Essentials

Here are a few tips and some general info to help you get the most from your mountain holiday.
If you have any questions, please email us and we will do our best to answer.

PETROL: there is no fuel on the mountain so fill up at Nerang or Mudgeeraba on the way up.

MEALS : Something easy like a lasagne or quiche that you can heat up in the microwave or oven is always good when you first arrive, there are plenty of good cafes and restaurants in Springbrook but if you arrive late there may not be anything open so best to be prepared. The kitchen and dining room have everything you should need to cook and serve a nice meal and the BBQ on the deck is new and easy to use. Tea, coffee sugar and some basic condiments are provided but take whatever you wish with you. There is a family size fridge and freezer for your use.

GROCERIES: the general store nearby has quite a few general items, milk, bread, newspapers, some vege, some frozen items, cereals eggs etc they have a pretty good range for a small store and there is a vege stall on Springbrook road. It’s best to take up most of what you will need, meat and salad and BBQ items are good as it’s nice to cook out on the deck. The nearest supermarkets and butchers etc are also in Nerang or Mudgeeraba about 30 mins drive from the cottage.

WILDLIFE: there are many birds and parrots that will visit, some wild bird seed is provided for the parrots and the lorikeets like some fruits like watermelon! The possums will eat any fruit or seeds left out on the deck overnight and the kookaburras are always on the lookout for some fresh meat. If you feed any of the animals please don’t feed them bread or cooked food or your left-overs, it’s a great pleasure to see them but we don’t want to do any harm.

YOUNG CHILDREN : please note that although young children are most welcome, supervision is required at all times. Our balcony is a wire and post style and to regulation but quite high off the ground, young children should not climb or stand on the wires. There is also a creek running through the rear of the garden and no fence around the property so keep an eye on young children at all times if doors are left open. We want you to have a happy and safe stay. Colouring items, books, videos, games and puppets are provided to keep them busy indoors.

BREAKAGES: we know you’ll treat the cottage and its facilities with care during your stay but sometimes accidents just happen! If you break any items or find something is not working please let us know as soon as you can so we can fix or replace it.

SMOKING: the cottage is a no smoking area, please keep smoking on the deck or garden only, ash trays are provided under the kitchen sink for use on the deck only.

PETS: sorry but there is no facility for pets at the cottage. We have no fences and are surrounded by native wildlife and national park, please arrange to leave your pets at home or with friends.

HEATING: for convenience we have chosen Gas heaters in the lounge and deck to keep you cosy at the cottage, you can be nice and warm within minutes of arriving and don’t have to worry about the hassles of getting a wood fire going.

CANDLES: If you take candles to burn please use only candles that are contained in a dish or holder. Please note you will be charged for any damage resulting from the use of candles indoors, wax spills, burns etc.

WATER USE: All our water is from our rain water tank so please use wisely, especially in dry periods. For drinking water, we have installed a filter tap next to the kitchen sink.

SEPTIC TANK: Only bidegradable products (septic safe) can be used for cleaning. These have been supplied for your use. Please don’t put any other items down the sink or toilet.
